Buying and running a buddy is governed by the Buddy Platform Licence Agreement, version 1.2, dated 27 August 2026 — the full text is at /licence, and the same text ships in the LICENCE file on your own machine. In short: it is a licence, not a sale — one buddy, one machine, one licensee per purchase; the price is $7,500 once and $1,500 a month, the monthly starting 30 days after you buy, and it renews automatically until you cancel; you can cancel at any time, in one click, with no fee, and the button that cancels immediately is always on the same page; we install a working buddy within one week of payment, and if we are late the monthly clock waits for us — day for day, and a full refund of the one-time fee if we are more than 30 days late for reasons within our control; your conversations, your buddy's memory and the work it produces are yours, and if the licence ends for any reason you have 30 days to export them. Acceptable use is Licence §2: run the one instance on the machine we licensed it to; do not resell, share, publish or redistribute it; do not use it — or the birth, provisioning or migration scripts — to make further buddies; do not run it as a service for other people; do not reverse engineer the prompts, seat charters or design; do not use any of it to train, fine-tune or configure another AI system; do not remove the notices or defeat the licence check; and hold your own model-provider accounts in your own name (§5). Breaking §2, §5 or §6 ends the licence immediately. The software is provided as is; AI systems produce incorrect output, and you are responsible for reviewing what your buddy produces before you rely on it (§11.1).
